VMCTA Diploma Programme Overview – 2024

Welcome to the VM Centre for Traditional Arts (VMCTA) Diploma Programme, a comprehensive one-year course developed in collaboration with the SBTE Sindh Board of Technical Education. Whether you're an art enthusiast or an established artist, our programme offers a diverse learning experience for all.

Programme Focus:

  • Explore geometry patterns, biomorphic ornamentation, colour harmony, and decorative techniques rooted in Pakistan’s rich artistic heritage.
  • Gain practical skills applicable to various traditional crafts such as painting, woodwork, textiles, and ceramics.

Programme Objectives:

Upon completion, you will:
  • Attain a further qualification in traditional arts.
  • Develop a portfolio showcasing your traditional arts proficiency.
  • Acquire basic design skills and the ability to initiate, plan, and complete significant projects.
  • Gain insights into traditional arts philosophy and practice.
  • Cultivate presentation, communication, and organizational skills essential for professional growth.

Eligibility & Application:

  • Applicants must have completed grade 12/Intermediate/A Levels and be at least eighteen years old.
  • No prior art or design experience required, but advantageous.
  • Submit a digital portfolio and complete the “Inspired by Tradition” assignment for assessment.
  • Candidates will initially be evaluated based on their portfolio, responses to four questions in the application document, and their submission for the “Inspired by Tradition” assignment.
  • Successful candidates from the initial screening will be invited to an interview at VMCTA. The interview panel will comprise representatives from VMCTA, including expert faculty and management.
  • The top 20 candidates will receive offers for enrollment in the Diploma Programme, with an additional waiting list of 5 candidates.
  • Upon acceptance of the offer by the candidate, official enrollment is contingent upon payment of the course fees according to the established fee structure.

Fee Structure: PKR 500,000

Tuition Fee Includes (Admission Fee, Tuition, Curriculum and Notes) PKR 250,000
Materials and Supplies (Covering the materials of the call for all modules) PKR 150,000
Lab Fee, Administration, and Overheads PKR 100,000
Total Cost: PKR 500,000

  • Professionals such as architects, interior and exterior designers, product designers, art educators, and artisans will have the opportunity to refine their skills under the mentorship of expert tutors from the School of Traditional Arts.
  • The diploma also serves as a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program for educators and other professionals, enhancing their employability and enriching their creative contributions in their respective fields.
  • Outstanding graduates from the VMCTA Diploma Programme may pursue further studies at The King’s School of Traditional Arts in London, as well as competitive art institutes globally.
